Is driving difficult in Exuma?
As in many Caribbean islands driving is on the left.  Exuma is not mountainous and relatively flat.  Navigation is easy.  There are no stop lights on the island.  Use common sense and caution.  Stay left, stay alive.

What is the local currency?
The official currency of the Bahamas is the Bahamian Dollar, however, US currency is widely accepted and the exchange rate usually is equivalent one for one.  Please check when dealing in other foreign currency.

Can I use my credit card throughout the island?
Credit cards are accepted at many locations, however, it is advisable to also carry cash for off the grid excursions and locations.

Does the power go out frequently?
As with many Caribbean islands there are occasional power interruptions.  These usually are not for extended periods of time.  However, Sand Nickels is equipped with a 64KW generator capable of fully powering the entire residence for an extended period of time.  Therefore, you will not notice any interruptions in power!

Will my cell phone work in Exuma?
This may depend on your cell phone service provider.  Please contact your carrier prior to arrival.  Sand Nickels is equipped with WIFI internet access. 

Is Exuma safe?
Being a small island community where everyone knows everyone, the crime rate on Exuma is extremely low.  There are minor thefts that occur, please use your common sense as you would in any place.  Sand Nickels is equipped with en suites safes for your additional security. 

When is the best time to visit Exuma?
Exuma is a year round holiday destination.  During the summer months it is considered low season and has less of a tourist population.  The weather does cool down during the winter months to the 70's - low 80's. 

Do I need a passport?
International travel to Exuma and the entire Bahamas requires a passport. 

Are there taxis?
Taxi's are available throughout the island as are private drivers and shuttles from various points.  However, a rental vehicle is highly recommended while staying at a private villa. 

Is there a nightlife?
Great Exuma is a low key, laid back island community.  There are many establishments to choose from.  They range from local fare to upper end fine dining.  

Is there gambling?
There are no casinos on Exuma, however, there are short daily flights to Atlantis and Baha Mar available at low rates. 

Should I bring my own groceries to Exuma?
Exuma has several grocery stores available that should accommodate your needs.  If you desire something uniquely specific please contact Sand Nickels in advance of your trip.  There are also a variety of spirit shops located throughout the island. 

Is there a golf course?
Exuma boasts a 18-hole, par 72 championship course located seaside with scenic mangroves and a back nine play along the rocky peninsula of Emerald Bay.

Can I dock my boat?
Great Exuma has docking facilities which can accommodate small craft to world class mega yachts.
