Sand Nickels is moving along nicely.  The foundation "bones" of the house are almost complete.  Guys are starting to touch the sky and work on the roof. 

Most days in the Exumas are bright, sunny and beautiful days. But even on gray cloudy days, the view of the blue water is still stunning. I'm so excited the second floor is coming along. Views for days out those windows.

On our last trip there, this ladder in the picture was nicknamed ladder of death. It looks like an easy climb, but keep in mind we did a lot of digging and there is still a big gap between the physical structure of the house and the ground. This will eventually be filled with concrete and will actual come up to the patio with a small step. But right now it's an open gap to gain entry. For someone who is scared of heights and has a propensity to be very clumsy, this was a challenging and a very careful exercise to get into the house. I made it in and out unscathed. Only in the islands!!

Its hard building a house, especially when your not there. You wonder is anyone working today? What's going on? Will it be correct? You so look forward to the pictures and progress updates. It can completely make your day when you see it coming along. Our builder has done a great job of keeping us updated with photos at each stage. Second floor walls going up!!!

Interior work continues on the lower level.  Can't really take a bad picture here.

I know, I know, we will not be spending a great deal of time in the house, but you must have a place to sleep. 

The View- Part two!

Exciting to see the lower level coming to fruition.  Just slide your bedroom door open and walk upon the beach. 

A strong foundation is essential for a strong house, especially in the Caribbean when hurricanes drop by uninvited. 

I think you see why we purchased this piece of property.  The photo does not do it justice, really!
